Description
I don't have time to make a PDF file right now, but at least this is something for now. These instructions are for the spiders here: [link] and here: [link]
I find it easiest to use wire or fishing line because they don't require needles. I would also suggest pony beads or other largish beads that are roughly as tall as they are wide.
The instructions are a bit out of order. Bear with me and feel free to suggest improvements.
1. Put three beads (the butt) in the middle of a line a little less than a metre long (next time I make one I'll check the exact length). Then add four beads and loop the line through them from opposite sides. Continue in this manner until you reach the head. From there continue to Step 4.
2. As you bead Step 1, loop back to earlier rows to strengthen the pattern and hold the beads together. I skipped this step for a lizard once and it ended up looking like a skeleton.
3. Either as you bead Step 1 or after, add the legs at the appropriate rows. They only attach to the bottom layer.
4. After you finish Steps 1 to 3, continue to the top layer with the same thread.
5. As you do Step 4, loop back to previous rows, like in Step 2. Last, sew the top and layers together along the sides.
A different way to bead the rows, which I prefer, is to alternate top and bottom instead of doing first one, then the other.
Please post what you make. I enjoy seeing others' work.
